Alison on Writing

My philosophy is simply to write. I’m pretty sure no one is positive they’re good at it, so giving it your best is the most important part. When writing creatively, I’d say if you think of a topic or find inspiration just start writing. You’ll be surprised at what rolls out. When writing academically always make an outline! Even if you don’t stick to it, it’ll remind you of the paper’s purpose and necessary aspects to include. Mostly, figure out what’s best for you. Try writing with music and without, at night and during the day, all at once or over a week – once you know what works for you, even academic writing can become a joy!
